What is a VDS?
A VDS (Virtual Dedicated Server) is a virtual server created by partitioning a powerful physical machine with virtualization technology and permanently assigning each partition its own CPU cores, RAM and NVMe storage. It is sometimes called a virtual dedicated server or simply a dedicated VPS.
The idea behind a VDS is simple: combine the isolation and performance of a physical server with the flexibility and affordability of a virtual one. The cores in your plan are never shared with another customer, so a busy neighbour cannot slow down your workloads. Meanwhile, hardware maintenance, power, cooling, networking and DDoS filtering remain the provider's responsibility.
Limitsiz Bulut VDS plans run on AMD EPYC processors, enterprise NVMe drives and DDR4/DDR5 memory. Every server comes with full root (Linux) or Administrator (Windows) access, a dedicated IPv4 address and unlimited traffic.
VDS vs VPS: what is the difference?
The terms VDS and VPS are often used interchangeably, yet there are important differences that directly affect performance. On a VPS, resources are allocated virtually and CPU time is distributed from a shared pool; on a VDS, CPU cores are additionally reserved for you. A quick comparison:
| Criterion | VDS Server | VPS Server |
|---|---|---|
| CPU allocation | Dedicated cores | vCPU from a shared pool |
| Performance consistency | High and predictable | May vary at peak hours |
| Noisy-neighbour effect | Negligible | Possible |
| Root / Admin access | Yes | Yes |
| Price | Mid-range | Lower |
| Ideal for | Gaming, e-commerce, ERP, databases | Blogs, testing, small sites |
If your project is sensitive to traffic spikes, or you run a game server or database that keeps the CPU busy, a VDS is the better choice. If budget comes first and the workload is light, a VPS may be enough. Read our detailed comparison VDS or VPS? or browse our affordable VPS server plans.
VDS server pricing in 2026
VDS pricing depends on the number of cores, amount of RAM, disk type and capacity, location and level of protection. The table below shows Limitsiz Bulut's current VDS plans. Prices are monthly and exclude VAT; every plan includes unlimited traffic, NVMe storage and DDoS protection.
| Plan | vCPU | RAM | NVMe Disk | Monthly Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LMT2 – Websites | 2 vCPU EPYC | 4 GB | 40 GB | ₺825.00 |
| LMT4 – Growing projects | 4 vCPU EPYC | 8 GB | 80 GB | ₺1508.50 |
| LMT8 – E-commerce | 6 vCPU EPYC | 16 GB | 120 GB | ₺2415.00 |
| LMT12 – Heavy SQL | 8 vCPU EPYC | 24 GB | 180 GB | ₺3445.00 |
| LMT16 – Enterprise | 10 vCPU EPYC | 32 GB | 260 GB | ₺4475.00 |
| LMT24 – Maximum power | 16 vCPU EPYC td>< td>64 GB td >< td >₺5952.00 td > |
When comparing prices, look beyond the monthly figure: check the cost per GB of RAM, the disk type (NVMe is dramatically faster than SATA SSD for reads and writes), the traffic limit and whether DDoS protection is included. Very cheap offers often mean oversold hardware, capped traffic or paid add-on protection. For a deeper look at how pricing works, see our guide to VDS server prices in 2026.
How to choose a VDS location
Your server's physical location directly determines the latency (ping) your users experience. The right location means faster page loads, smoother gameplay and better Core Web Vitals. Limitsiz Bulut VDS locations and typical latency from Turkey:
| Location | Ping from Turkey | Status | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Turkey – Istanbul | ~3–8 ms | Live | Turkey-focused sites, gaming, ERP |
| Germany | ~30–45 ms | Live | European audiences, global projects |
| Finland | – | Coming soon | Northern Europe |
| Azerbaijan – Baku | – | Coming soon | Azerbaijan and the Caucasus |
VDS in Turkey (Istanbul)
If most of your users are in Turkey, a Turkey-based VDS delivers the lowest latency. A local IP address is also an advantage for Turkey-specific game servers, local payment integrations and projects that must keep data in-country under KVKK (Turkish Personal Data Protection Law).
VDS in Germany
For projects targeting Europe, international e-commerce, services that need strong international connectivity and applications that require a European IP address, a Germany VDS is an excellent option. Latency from Turkey stays around 30–45 ms, which is barely noticeable for most web projects.
Turkey or Germany? A quick decision guide
If more than 70% of your visitors are in Turkey, you run a game server or your data must stay in-country, choose Istanbul. If your audience is spread across Europe, you rely on European payment and service integrations, or you want balanced latency between Turkey and Europe, Germany is the more sensible choice. Both locations offer the same plans, the same DDoS protection and the same control panel, so the decision comes down to where your audience is.

What is a VDS used for?
- Game servers: FiveM, Minecraft, CS2, Rust and Metin2 rely on strong single-core performance and low latency. Dedicated cores prevent tick-rate drops as your player count grows.
- E-commerce: Stores running WooCommerce, OpenCart, PrestaShop or custom software see sudden spikes during campaigns. A VDS absorbs that load far more reliably than shared hosting.
- ERP and accounting software: Run business applications such as Logo, Mikro or Netsis on a Windows VDS and connect from every branch via remote desktop.
- RDP / remote desktop: An always-on Windows desktop for team work, bots, automation and trading software that must run 24/7.
- Software development and SaaS: Full control for Docker, Kubernetes (k3s), CI/CD runners and Node.js, Python, .NET or Go applications.
- Database servers: I/O-heavy workloads such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MSSQL or MongoDB benefit hugely from NVMe storage.
- Hosting multiple websites: Install cPanel, Plesk or aaPanel and manage all your agency's client sites on a single server.
Windows VDS or Linux VDS?
Choose your operating system based on the software you plan to run:
- Linux VDS (Ubuntu, Debian, AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux): ideal for web servers, PHP/Node.js applications, Docker and most game servers. It uses fewer resources, has no licence cost and is managed over SSH.
- Windows VDS (Windows Server): suited to .NET Framework, MSSQL, IIS, desktop applications, ERP software and scenarios that need remote desktop over RDP. Because Windows consumes more RAM than Linux, we recommend starting with a plan that has at least 4–8 GB of RAM.
You can choose the operating system when ordering and reinstall it later with one click from the control panel.
Why DDoS protection matters
DDoS attacks are especially common against game servers, online stores and highly competitive industries. An unprotected server can go offline after just a few minutes of attack traffic. Limitsiz Bulut VDS servers include Voxility-powered, hardware-based DDoS protection at the network level, so malicious traffic is filtered before it reaches your server. On top of that, we recommend configuring a server-side firewall (iptables, nftables, CSF or Windows Firewall), restricting management ports and using SSH key authentication.
A backup strategy for your VDS
No matter how powerful your server is, an accidentally dropped database table, a broken update or ransomware can only be undone with a backup. That is why we recommend planning backups from day one. The widely accepted 3-2-1 rule is a good starting point: keep at least 3 copies of your data, on 2 different types of storage, with at least 1 copy stored outside the server's location.
With Limitsiz Bulut VDS you can add the Server Backup service at checkout for daily backups. We also recommend exporting your databases regularly (mysqldump, pg_dump) and copying important files to external storage with tools such as rsync, restic or Veeam. Test your backups by restoring them from time to time; an untested backup is not really a backup.
Tips to boost VDS performance
- Use caching: OPcache for PHP, Redis or Memcached for object caching and LiteSpeed Cache or Nginx FastCGI cache for page caching dramatically cut response times.
- Tune your database: size
innodb_buffer_pool_sizein MySQL/MariaDB to your RAM and enable the slow query log to find missing indexes. - Monitor resources: track CPU, RAM and disk usage with htop, Netdata or Grafana, and do not upgrade before you have found the real bottleneck.
- Disable unused services: services you do not need consume RAM and widen your attack surface.
- Add a CDN: serving static files through a CDN reduces server load and speeds things up for visitors in distant countries.
- Keep software current: up-to-date PHP, Node.js and database versions make a real difference to both performance and security.
How to choose the right VDS plan (checklist)
- Define your workload: websites, gaming, databases and RDP each have different resource profiles.
- Estimate your RAM: 4 GB for simple sites, 8 GB for WooCommerce and small game servers, 16 GB or more for Windows + ERP or large databases is a good starting point.
- Decide on cores: vCPU needs grow with concurrent users and the number of PHP/Node workers.
- Check the disk type: NVMe delivers far higher IOPS than SATA SSD and directly impacts database performance.
- Pick a location close to your audience: Istanbul for Turkey, Germany for Europe.
- Verify DDoS protection: is it included or a paid add-on?
- Plan your backups: add the server backup service or use an external backup target.
- Think about scalability: upgrading to a larger plan without data loss saves time in the long run.
- Ask about support: 24/7 expert technical support is your best safety net at critical moments.
VDS setup steps
- Select a location and the VDS plan that fits your needs from the list above, then click Configure.
- Choose your operating system (a Linux distribution or Windows Server) and any add-ons.
- Complete payment by credit card or bank transfer (Havale/EFT).
